Global Beauties - It’s just been announced that Miss Universe 2011 will have 16 quarter-finalists, who will compete in swimsuits, 10 semi-finalists, who will compete in evening gowns, and 5 finalists.
It will be 16-10-5, and not 16-8-4, as previously announced.
Two special awards were presented at the end of the Presentation Show, or Miss Universe’s Preliminary Competition, which happened in Sao Paulo on Thursday night. Miss Sweden, Ronnia Fornstedt, won the Miss Photogenic Award, while Miss Montenegro, Nikolina Lončar, was voted Miss Congeniality by her fellow contestants.
In addition to the seven judges previously announced for the final, two more judges have been added to the final roster of personalities who will choose the new Miss Universe on Monday night. They will join Vivica Fox, Connie Chung, Lea Salonga, Amelia Vega, Adrienne Maloof, Isabeli Fontana and Helio Castroneves during the 60th Miss Universe pageant to be held on September 12th. They are:
Italo Zanzi: Deputy Secretary General of CONCACAF (Confederation of North, Central American and Carribean Association of Football)
Farouk Shami: Owner of Houston-based company Farouk Systems, which exports its line of hair and skin care products under the brands CHI, BioGlitz, and SunGlitz. Also ran for governor of Texas in 2010.
